Alicia Vogel is a painter and a cartoonist.
She has a M.A. in Fine Art from Stephen F. Austin State University,
with an emphasis in digital art and sculpture.
In 2008, she partnered with
the online magazine DigitalApplejuice.com to produce the webcomic The
Tao of I.T. Al. With a tongue firmly planted in cheek, Al viewed the
world of geek pop culture, information technology, and academia
through the eyes of a giant martial arts-trained armadillo trying to
make a buck running a campus internet cafe. It was a significant draw
to the website, and had a two-year run.
In 2009, Alicia attended
Conceptart.org’s Dallas seminar, Reverie. Energized by what she
learned there, she strengthened her art foundations through 2011
through workshops at the Gemini School of Visual Arts and The Art
Department. She is looking forward to creating more works in this
latest direction with her rediscovered love of the figure and the
fantastic, paired with the sensibilities of sequential art.
