The Art of Myke Amend

Myke Amend is a weaver of strange worlds in which darkness and the macabre, fantasy, speculative fiction, emotion, and even politics blend
seamlessly into fantastic, surreal, horrific, yet serene and wondrous worlds of tranquil chaos.

His works are those of mystery and message, wherein he seeks to provide the viewer with endless new things to find within a busy sea of tiny
strokes and intermingled thoughts, hiding visages and artwork within each element of every work, and in the empty space between.

Influenced greatly by Gustave Dore, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Gerald Brom, Derek Riggs, Salvadore Dali, Albrecht Durer, Pieter Brughel the Elder, a
thing most commonly noted about Myke's artistic style is his attention to detail and details within details, bordering on "neurotic".

Myke's current obsession, is pretty much anything he has an opportunity or a moment to work on - painting in oils, acrylics, and tempera, on
wood, canvas, metal, or hardboard, drypoint engravings on clayboard or copper, etching, sculpture, woodworking, carpentry, always hoping to
work towards bigger and more extraordinary things, and anything not yet tried.

You can find Myke's works in many printed and online magazines, as well as table-top books, including the Art collection “Gothic Art Now“ and
"Vampire Art Now" (June 2011), and magazines/webzines such as Kilter Magazine, Dark Roasted Blend, IO9, Lines and Colors, Brass Goggles,
Gatehouse Gazette, Elfwood, Superpunch, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Weird Tales Magazine, Macmillan Books, to name a few. Myke has done work for authors Dexter Palmer, Bethany Grenier, and Cherie Priest, as well as musicians Abney Park, and Vernian Process.

Myke currently resides in Michigan with his fiancee and colleague Bethalynne Bajema, whose ability and talent he has greatly admired for
some 13 years.
