The Art of Popeye Wong

Sergio Wong Gutiérrez, better known as Popeye Wong (or "Pops"), is a Mexican artist whose artwork consists mainly of erotic themes, portraying a realistic style as well as cartoons. Popeye Wong was born in 1976, in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, México. He attended college from 1994 to 1999 and graduated as an Electronic Systems Engineer in Monterrey, Nuevo León, at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. After moving to the United States in 1999, he realized that deep in his heart he wanted to be an artist. That is when he began a long journey to polish his talent. In 2002, soon after moving to Las Vegas, Popeye Wong was hired as a caricaturist in several casinos. That job introduced him to the airbrush, the primary tool that he uses up to this day.
Working primarily from his studio at home as a freelance artist, he does commission work both for businesses as well as private customers. Because of the erotic nature of his art, he feels comfortable within the adult industry, where his work is being seen more widely. Popeye Wong's images have been featured in publications like the adult Fantasy magazine "Heavy Metal", with a link dedicated to his art on their official website, HeavyMetal.com. Similarly, his artwork can also be seen at adult websites like Vickyathome.com and EnterBelladonna.com, official websites for porn stars Vicky Vette and Belladonna.

I like to express the eroticism of life. I think everything in life has an erotic side to it, we just need to see it. This is just a matter of willing to do so. I really do not understand why the erotic aspects of life are such a taboo (although at the same time I acknowledge that this might be the reason why it is so much fun to work with it). It is my passion not only to pay tribute to the eroticism in life, but also make mock of it. We are temporary passengers in this train called life, and there are only a handful of topics(if any) that I deem worthy of seriousness; Erotica is certainly not one of them. I will keep having fun as long as there is one person that still blushes or even gets angry at what I depict, and I will have the strength to go on as long as there are people who like what I express.
