Jeffrey David Cohn, a photographer, artist, designer, and
esoteric collector currently residing in Chicago.
Instead of offering a bullet point list, or some over-worked,
over-verbalized statement that looks like it's trying too hard, I offer
you this. A partial ingredients list with time scale as to the composition
of myself.
1968 born in Chicago.
1972 entranced by photography from mother's French Vogue (Helmut Newton,
Guy Bourdin) and Paris-Match subscriptions for years.
1984 learned to play drums, actively played concerts and toured the U.S.
and abroad in punk rock and era-correct soul jazz bands through 1999.
1985 purchased first set of vintage bondage themed photographic prints (Klaw
Studios). Collecting habits may have changed, but procurement continues
today
1986 attended university for math and physics concentration
1990 switched university concentration to Art. Truly enjoyed the mental
masturbatory gymnastics of contemporary art (Burden, Koons)
1992 began a career in print advertising, eventually becoming an invisible
fixture for international ad agencies and their clients' brands in
generating award winning art through retouching and photo-illustration
through 2005
2004 started creating in earnest, my photography.
