Martin Rafael Class is a
Midwestern photographer based in Dayton, Ohio who has taken the retro idea
of "fetish noir" and explored it in a modern context. He's had the knack
for finding exquisite models and interesting environments to create
a variety of glamour, Goth and BDSM-oriented photographs that are unique
and sexy. You can see Helmut Newton is an inspiration, but his work is
much more freeform ... Marty fully trusts his models on wardrobe choices,
poses and props. What he absolutely controls is light and perspective.
While black and white bondage shots using a classic Mamiya 645 medium
format film camera are his trademark, Marty is currently experimenting
with color digital photography and is always willing to try new themes.
Mr. Class has been featured in magazines like Taboo and the
Secret fetish photo anthology. He also has one collection of his
work published called Obsession and there's another book on it's
way.
