David Dotson Freelance Illustrator, Sculptor, and
Wanderer.
My earliest and fondest memories are of drawing. When I was
young, I devoured the fantasy artwork of Frank Frazetta, Keith
Parkinson, and Larry Elmore, right along with classic artists like
Bouguereau, Picasso, and Donatello. My brother and I grew up on
Myths and Sci-Fi tales and those stories have resonated with me
throughout my life.
After serving in the Army I went on to get my BFA from Miami
University and several years later also received my MFA.
Professionally my artwork has been shown both nationally and
internationally, with my works in both public and private
collections. I have helped create animal exhibits for the
Cincinnati Zoo, worked as an sculptor in a custom steel works shop,
and spent 10 years as an assistant preparator at an art museum.
I love the experiences of life, and In my
wanderings I have been fortunate enough to walk on the Great Wall of
China, travel by horseback with nomads through the mountains of
Mongolia, and to develop friendships with many great artists and
thinkers throughout the world.
